Gothic Room

This Gothic revival style room is one of four different historical designs that we are producing "off the shelf". We have created a well constructed and decorated space that can be adapted to our clients' budget and space - at the best possible price!

The room will be developed to suite your needs and conditions, constructed, completely hand carved, finished and installed - and we can even supply uniquely designed furniture, wall and window treatments - streamlining the complete process to save you time and money. And the design is free!

The gothic room takes elements from English churches and period Tudor houses. There are panels of interchanging wood carved linenfold, doorways with cresting of tracery, carved gothic cornices and a beautiful gothic fire surround with overmantel. The pelmet is carved in wood and we can include a magnificent cabinet that can be built to contain a television, sound system or adapted to become a personal desk. Bookcases can be added to create a complete library, or removed altogether to change the space into a bedroom with your own especially designed four poster bed.

All our wood carving is created by hand and is therefore unique - that means we will be happy to include designs such as heraldry and monograms that are unique to your family - and at no extra cost.

North Elevation

The hand carved linenfold paneling and cornice continues around the room. Two bookcases to each side of the window have capitals and tracery and are arched by the use of carved spandrels. These bookcases are separate items of furniture and can be removed or extend to other parts of the room to form a gothic library. The linenfold paneling at the walls in that case could be removed where it may not be seen. Above the window is a carved wooden stringcourse to the pelmet - a window and wall treatment can be supplied by us if required .

East Elevation

We have placed a cabinet in the center of this elevation which could be removed altogether or replaced by one or more bookcases. The cabinet itself can be developed to hold a television or adapted into a desk for a computer and internet connection if required. On either side of the cabinet we have placed two optional gothic sconces and the hand carved linen fold continues on this elevation or can be removed from the design if obscured by bookcases.

South Elevation

With hand carved cornice and linenfold continuing at this elevation, our room shows two door cases with tracery and and carved cresting - the doors themselves have linen fold panels and gothic rosettes. We have placed an optional gothic mirror between the doors.

West Elevation

The traditional fire surround and overmantel captures the gothic style with a cresting of hand carved crockets and tracery above the flowing gothic capitals. The fire surround is supported by alternating designs of linen fold panels typical of period tudor mansions. Elements like the wall treatment and picture frames are optional.
