Agrell Architectural Carving meets the world of fashion

It seemed like an odd request.

"We are milliners. Can you supply a piece of carved acanthus to develop into a hat?"  

Then we realised it was Piers Atkinson, the most interesting and avant-garde milliners anywhere, so of course we were very intrigued!  Piers Atkinson's hats have been adorned by an array of creative celebrities including Kate Moss, Paloma Faith, Lady Gaga and Cate Blanchett. 

 

What wood carver wouldn't want their work used as a hat for Piers Atkinson!  

 

Eventually Piers decided to use a rococo theme and the fantastic flourish was developed.

Piers' muse is Anna Dello Russo, editor-at-large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan. Anna who is equally well know for "keeping headpieces alive" was photographed (as Piers quoted) "Rocking Rococo!" at Paris Fashion Week 2013.

 

 

We have since provided two additional carvings for Piers Atkinson Spring / Summer 2014 collection. The hats "Anna", "Dello" and "Russo" are modelled by British actress and now Hollywood superstar, Andrea Riseborough.
