Wood Carved Appliques

Hand-carved wood appliqués or decorative carving, whether they are part of a Gothic-style ceiling centre-piece comprised of a simple carved rosette or a more intricately hand carved Renaissance-style wall panel, can transform a room, imbuing it with the unique personality, warmth and spirit of that particular period.

To succeed, as author Franz Sales Meyer explains in his Handbook of Ornament, "In decoration, as elsewhere, there is a right and a wrong use for everything; each object, even the very smallest, requires its own proper form and decoration."

At Agrell Architectural Carving, we understand the intimate connection between form, purpose and material, enabling us to recreate each piece—furniture, moulding, panels, corbels, columns, capitals—to reproduce the original in every detail.
